BARÇA NEWS: As a reward for his youth team’s success, Xavi summons the 18-year-old Barcelona prospect to first-team training.

Young players going through La Masia’s youth divisions have had many opportunities during Xavi’s time as FC Barcelona’s manager.

A few, including Lamine Yamal, Fermin Lopez, and most lately, Pau Cubarsi, have already made an impression in the starting lineup.

Some have established themselves as regulars in the senior squad’s training regimen, including Unai Hernandez, Marc Casado, Mikayil Faye, and Pau Victor.

Sergi Dominguez gets called up to train

Sergi Dominguez is one more new player Xavi called up to train with the senior squad today ahead of tomorrow’s match against Celta Vigo, according to SPORT.

On Thursday and Friday (today), the 18-year-old center back participated in first-team training sessions. Xavi gave the young player a reward for his outstanding youth campaign exploits.

Dominguez was promoted to Barça Atletic lately because of his strong play for Barcelona’s Juvenil A team during the previous year in both the Honor Division and the UEFA Youth League.

This season, Dominguez has made 12 appearances for Rafa Marquez’s team. It appears that this has caught Xavi’s attention, as the young defender has been summoned up to practice with the senior squad.

The 18-year-old has a high ceiling and is well-known for his aerial strength and ball distribution. Despite not making the final roster for the match against Celta Vigo, supporters may expect to see more of the teenager soon.
